New SHS 2nd Semester Class Schedule for SY 2025-2026 (Starting January 5, 2026)
NUMERACY ASSESSMENT is integral to develop logical thinking skills and reasoning strategies in everyday life. Each of us need numeracy to solve problems and make sense of numbers, time, patterns and shapes as we see and encounter them in our daily living.
In connection with the Division Memo no. 99 s. 2020, the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Albay Adopted the Policy Guidelines on Numeracy Assessment System (NumerALS). That aims to establish an assessment system for numeracy that will help the school in the division to promote better performance in Mathematics, institutionalize a standard administration of numeracy assessment in the school of Albay Division, Provide numeracy assessment tools that will serve as entry assessment for grades 4 and 7, generate baseline data of the numeracy skills and learners and promote shared accountability, engagement and collaboration among stakeholders to support learners to achieve improved learning outcomes.
Rapu-Rapu National High School, in response to this, has conducted the Numeracy assessment among 12 Grade 7 students from different barangays covered by the school. Last December 7, 2020. Grade 7 Math teachers with the help of the testing coordinator venture the to different barangays of Rapu-Rapu, Albay to conduct the orientation and to assess students’ numeracy through pen and paper numeracy assessment tools.
During the conduct of the assessment, the team gave a concise orientation on the most essential elements of the program or activity and help students them answer their queries regarding some of the difficult items met in the test. They also conducted debriefing among the students to make them feel relieved and a post conference with the parents.
The team has learned that assessing the students’ skills and know-how can be basis in the discovery of best teaching modalities in teaching mathematics as an integral subject in shaping a nation future. They have deepened the realization that Mathematics is not just a subject but a reflection of true to life experiences and will always be part of one’s life. It is not only a core subject to teach for the students but also an avenue for communication to help improve their skill acquisition
